Susan Hart has been creating art since she can remember. “My grandmother taught me to make greeting cards and paper dolls; similar to those she made while growing up during The Great Depression. I guess you could say that’s when I came to love magazines, stationary and things made from paper."
Susan credits her creative abilities to talented family members, countless talented photographers who share their photos online and to many very creative artists who have written instructional books. “My Nana and Mom spent a lot of time teaching me to follow instructions while demonstrating their expertise in cooking, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and doll making. They also encouraged my interest in other genres and before long I was painting, sculpting, carving and creating my own designs.”
“My favorite thing about painting is teaching myself new techniques with acrylic paints - while studying other artist's mediums and styles. I do sell these one-of-a-kind, art study interpretations ... mainly because I have no room in my art studio to store them all (giggling).” When asked what her artistic genre is, Susan comments, “I guess you could call my genre Sue-real. I love 3-D realism, trompe l’oeil murals and anything that’s miniature, all of which, I believe, greatly influence my style and designs.”
Susan completed her “non-traditional” college education at the University of Maine at Machias where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, other Certificates in business-related concentrations and a minor in Fine Arts. “I’m grateful for my education; it has really motivated me to further my art career and business.”
Susan’s custom art can be found in private collections throughout New England; from painted slates and signs, to custom wall murals and floor cloth canvasses. Heavily involved with several original licensing projects and a children's book in the works, Susan remarks, “I'm truly thankful for the love and support I receive from my family; it is they who provide me the opportunity to share my art study paintings, original designs and art collections with you.”
